Music similarity search

AudioAtlas finds tracks that sound like a reference track. It compares the audio itself (timbre, instrumentation, rhythm, energy and mood), not tags or play counts, across more than 185 million tracks from Apple Music and 28 production-music and stock catalogues.

How it works

  1. Search for the reference track by title, artist or description, or paste its ISRC.
  2. Open Similar on the result. AudioAtlas ranks the closest tracks by audio embeddings.
  3. Narrow the list with filters: BPM range, energy, mood, genre, vocals or instrumental, duration, release year, catalogue, and AI-generated music hidden or shown.

Who uses it

What every result includes

Catalogues searched

Apple Music, APM, BMG Production Music, Universal Production Music, Warner Chappell Production Music, Extreme Music, Megatrax, Audio Network, Musicbed, Epidemic Sound, Artlist, Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, De Wolfe Music, The Nerve, Jamendo and more.

Frequently asked questions

How does AudioAtlas decide two songs are similar?

Each track is analysed into audio embeddings that capture timbre, instrumentation, rhythm and mood. Similar tracks are the nearest neighbours of the reference track in that space, so the match is based on how the music sounds, not on tags or listening history.

Can I find a production-music sound-alike for a commercial song?

Yes. Start from the commercial track and filter the results to production-music catalogues such as APM, BMG Production Music, Universal Production Music or Extreme Music.

Is there an API for music similarity search?

Yes. The AudioAtlas REST API has a similar-tracks endpoint, and the remote MCP server exposes it to AI assistants such as Claude. See the API documentation.

Can I exclude AI-generated music?

Yes. Every track carries an AI-generated indicator and the search can hide AI-generated music.
